Luisa Jones' approach is a unique blend of training horses based on how they live, think and learn. It's an amalgamation of the best theories and techniques that Luisa has studied in her life-long association with horses.

I have been involved with horses since I was three years old and owned my first pony when I reached 12; I have had horses ever since. Although the riding instructors I had and the ponies I rode taught me an awful lot, there were some parts that I never quite got to grips with, some things just didn't make sense to me. However, this changed about 8 years ago when I bought an untouched 4 year thoroughbred, who is 17.1hh! She taught me that I needed to gain trust, good communication and body language skills in order for us to work together. Because of this, I realised that I needed to see things from her perspective, as it was no good me saying I want to go over there, when she was saying “that's all very well for you, but that plastic bag just over there could well kill me!”. To start with even picking her feet up was a challenge…..but with patience, my new found skills and lots of trial and error we got there in the end. I just had to remember to listen to what she was telling me and then she would let me know when I had got it right.
Having discovered how much could be done using these techniques, I got more and more drawn into finding out more, researching, watching and working with various trainers, studying different methods, collecting as much information as I could and gaining practical experience working on yards dealing with “problem” horses.
I soon realised on working with these horses, that it in actual fact it is not just about the horse. Of course, we must understand that some methods of training will work better than others but we have to take into consideration the horses' individuality, their emotional and learning bias and of course the individuality of their owner/s.
Because of this I went on to qualify in (human) Clinical Hypnotherapy. This means that I can work with the owner to overcome their anxieties or fears which in turn will also help their horse.
Whatever method you decide to choose to educate your horse, the most important thing to learn is “how” this method works, what is the effect of the learning process and any implications it may have on the horse itself.
Equine Behaviour Management evolved to help the horse and the owner whether you just want to understand more, build a better relationship or whether you have a specific problem you wish to resolve.
Achievements & Awards
Shown here is a very small collection of certificates that I have gained over the past few years. However not all courses offer the benefit of a certificate, they rely instead on the content of the course to speak for itself. Copies of all certification are available on request.
